Myself and my partner made the mistake of trying out bird videos for my two cats (Ivan/2yo & Mishka/7yo) a few days ago. Just to see if they would react.
  • 04
Mishka could not of cared ANY less. He's a soft hearted gentleman and doesn't care for TV time. Only his catnip toy and naps.

Ivan... On the other hand. We'll we've created a monster. He DEMANDS the TV every morning and night before bed. He doesn't care if we're deep in a series or a movie. He will glare and glare and GLARE at us. Obnoxiously staring at the TV as to say, "well? Where is my show?"
  • 06
We now have to turn off whatever it is we're watching for him to watch his new found love for this SPECIFIC YouTube video and god forbid we put on a different one. He will whip his head around like the exorcist and curse us with his eyes until it's changed.

I've never experienced this in the 20 years of having cats. I have no idea if this is normal. If I should allow this tiny creature to control our own TV time.
  • 08
Are cats allowed to watch TV? How long for? Do I need to talk to him about being so close to the screen? Will he eventually control our entire TV schedule for the rest of his life?
  • 09
Anyways. Here's a picture of the little one (He gets his TV time no matter what)

Salty-Tea6815 You need to do what I have done and get your cats their own iPad so they can watch cat tv on YouTube whenever they want without bothering you. I know I know, it's getting a bit much when you buying your cats their own tech, but it's very mentally stimulating for indoor cats and it sure beats them smashing your tv when they decide they are going to catch that bird they see on the screen!! Give them an old tablet and put a kid safe case on it so if they get excited and bat it around

Upper-Positive536 Yes or buy yourself a smaller tv so he can watch his show, without you disturbing him.
  • 15
XVIIUNSTEADY OP We do disturb his TV time. Good idea.

Haunting Donkey758 Mine too, but he's very particular - it has to be this one specific Korean cat channel on youtube, if he doesn't hear the theme song, he doesn't watch! I guess he has his standards

XVIIUNSTEADY OP Mines the exact same.
